Murray Dewart has built large public and private sculptures across the United States in his thirty-five year career. In Sculpture Magazine, he was called “one of Boston’s premier sculptors” and he has work in more than a dozen permanent collections, among them The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, The Boston Athenaeum, The Harvard University Art Museum and The Rose Art Museum.
Dewart has been commissioned by two Chinese cities, Beijing and Fuzhou, to build large bronze and granite sculptures for their international sculpture parks. His park project for the city of Cambridge, MA has been described by critic Marty Carlock in Landscape Architecture Magazine as a “landscape gem hosting three small but world class sculptures." His bronze Sun Gate was purchased by Harvard University for the Leverett House courtyard.
He has won awards and lectured widely. He is the co-founder of Boston Sculptors Gallery, a graduate of Harvard College and the Massachusetts College of Art and is married to Mary Dewart, a landscape designer in Brookline, MA.
